Who YOU are in Christ.

Hi there, have you ever wondered who YOU are in Christ?

What I mean by that is our identity changes when we accept Christ into our life, we’re reborn spiritually. We become children of God, sons and daughters of the most high.

 I struggled for a long time with understanding what this meant, I didn’t know the authority I had over the enemy (Satan) and I never used this because I hadn’t understood that the Holy Spirit was living inside of me.

Around 3 years ago I gave my life to Christ, it wasn’t a case of me saying the sinners prayer. I had an awareness of God from young age and had always seen his hand in my life. So when I actually gave my life to him, a few weeks prior to that I had problem’s dealing with evil spirits or demons.
If I actually understood the authority I had in Christ they would have been gone a lot quicker.. I suffered from sleep paralysis, which is being completely paralysed and feeling a demonic presence around you. I had this experience since about the age of 7 and experienced it getting worse the closer I got to God. Of course the enemy wouldn’t want us to get any closer to God so, his tactic is to torment until you pull away from God completely. So after 6 weeks of no sleep I then, asked my mum to pray for me and she did.

In prayer she claimed that I was a child of God and that I was his property above all else. A few days later I had a light bulb moment.. “I am Gods property so the enemy can’t touch me!”… It was that very night, the first night in 6 weeks that I slept for the first time without one attack, simply because I knew who I was, I knew my position and that was just the beginning.

The bible is full of promises, stating that God is our protection, peace, comfort and love in times of trouble..

“Because you have made the Lord your dwelling place— the Most High, who is my refuge— no evil shall be allowed to befall you, no plague come near your tent. For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone. You will tread on the lion and the adder; the young lion and the serpent you will trample underfoot.

 “Because he holds fast to me in love, I will deliver him; I will protect him, because he knows my name. When he calls to me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.””

This is just one of many verses. God is the definition of love.

“Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.”

‭‭1 John‬ ‭4:8‬ ‭ESV‬‬

He is love and I’ve witnessed his love first hand, in blessings that we quite often over look. If you can read this you’re blessed! If you woke up this morning you’re blessed! Some people didn’t…Often it’s the most simple things that we take for granted. God shows his love in our lives but besides that he completely loves us, otherwise he wouldn’t have sent his son.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”

‭‭John‬ ‭3:16‬ ‭ESV‬‬

So know that your loved beyond anything you can imagine, the enemy wants to tell us otherwise. Many times we fall into sin and feel convicted, then we stay in that place because of guilt and condemnation. When really all that God wants us to do is repent, and come back to him. So know that he loves you, as a father loves his child, he will forgive you.
Lastly, never underestimate the power that there is in the name of Jesus. In suffering with sleep paralysis (which I no longer have) many time I called out his name and the spirit fled, rebuke them in Jesus’ name and they will flee.

“And this she kept doing for many days. Paul, having become greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, “I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her.” And it came out that very hour.”

‭‭Acts‬ ‭16:18‬ ‭ESV‬‬

If you are a Christian remember that the Holy Spirit lives within you, the power of God and his presence is within us, the enemy knows that. It’s only for us to understand the authority we have.

“So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.”

‭‭1 John‬ ‭4:16‬ ‭ESV‬‬

I hope this helps, I have only scratched the surface but it’s just the beginning of discovering your identity in Christ.
