Contentment.

December, 2016

Contentment has been on and off for me this year. Some days it’s true to say I’m content, others it’s not the same story. I’ve now found myself in a new place where I can see a part of the picture, the grand plan that God has for me and although it feels like it’s lasting a lifetime, in Gods sight it’s probably a few minutes. Maturity will come in time (I tell myself), if you’re willing to see the bigger picture.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭29:11‬ ‭NIV

I’ve heard of countless stories where people had been in situations that made them think “why is this happening” but in the grand scheme of things these tests are crucial to see whether we can even handle the next step.
God has been urging me to see that right here is where I’m needed, not only for myself but others around me. It’s not ideal and I’m not in my ‘perfect’ place but it’s necessary for me and I now know that I’m not ready for the next phase. I’m having to surrender my own opinions on what I think should be happening in life right now and I’m going with the flow of the Father.

Along this journey of surrender I’ve found myself enjoying moments of spontaneous ministering in random and unexpected places. It’s moments like these that make me see that nothing is a coincidence and that it’s all a part of the plan. It’s exciting and it’s what we should expect on our Christian journey, this isn’t supposed to be boring. As Christ is alive and active we should be as well, and we should be expectant. A wise woman once said ‘If you’re willing to open your eyes in the midst of the mundane and the rush, you will see opportunities that God presents but it’s very easy to miss them'(paraphrasing).

So keep your head up and know that it’s all a part of the plan, and I pray that God will help you to be content in this season and that He will reveal the moments of opportunity to help others in the ordinary days of life. Amen
